Robby Berloznik (Institute Society and Technology, Flanders) speaking during the Czech workshop in Prague

In order to establish (new) TA infrastructures in countries which do not have own TA institutions up to now it is necessary getting an overview about national institutional contexts and existing capacities (actors, organisations, networks, processes, institutions, political system), demands and interests in TA related activities, barriers and opportunities.

With this aim national workshops and meetings took place during the Spring and Summer of 2012 in Wallonia (Belgium), Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania and Portugal with the support of countries with a tradition of PTA.

The first national workshops were organised as a first (informal) discussion with relevant and interested experts and stakeholders to trigger initiatives.  The working meetings “Opportunities and challenges for building up a national TA infrastructure” were established as discussion rounds with relevant national actors, i.e. representatives of parliamentary committees, ministries, national research institutions, NGOs.
